Analytics for a mobile focused site

Hi guys,

I'm looking for an analytics platform to track users on a cms platform(a web app). I expect most of my traffic to come from mobile users. So I'm looking for a light weight tracking solution that would add very little to my site load time.

I'm looking into server side google analytics libraries such as,

https://code.google.com/p/php-ga/

I'm not interested in tracking individual users, but rather just some basic metrics like user drop offs on various pages and tracking button click counts and such. My most important criteria is to make sure the tracking code is as light as possible so as to not slowdown the site load time on a mobile phone.

If I'm looking for tracking options that are faster than the regular client side google analytics. What are some of my other options?

You should do just fine with Google Analytics. The metrics it provides just keep getting better and better. Google Analytics shouldn't affect performance much ... if you see performance issues, check your application's scripts first. Also, take a look at this screenshot: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BRu4MbpCQAAdwpz.jpg:large (stolen from this tweet: https://twitter.com/paul_irish/status/368090318274445312 ) ... lots of juicy good information.

Cool thx for the insights guys. Ill look into mixpanel as well. But looks like Google analytics might be the way to go for my needs. Ill try running some tests between server side vs client side google analytics code to see if theres any meaning full speed difference, If not think ill just stick with client side Google analytics .
