Any experience with paid promotion for a crowdfunding campaign/Kickstarter?

I am currently running a Kickstarter campaign for alternative Google Glasses. We are getting a lot of emails from people offering services to boost our campaign via adding comments and small donations as well as other techniques. Have any of you used any type of paid promotion for acrowd fundingcampaign and if so what gave you results? Thanks for sharing!

 I tried one of these boost services and it was not effective. I did get increased traffic but it was mostly bounce traffic so I got only one sale. I also did my own independent ads. These increased traffic but for my area (health/educational game) were not effective. Here is my article in Forbes on the topic:

Hi @Jessica, I actually find it very useful when discussions are revived around highly evolving concepts (like crowdfunding and say pinterest marketing). If one reads the article Candice mentions, it becomes pretty clear that what used to work 5 months ago may not work today and so it is important to seek and learn how the wisdom has evolved. There are some questions like "how to find a tech cofounder" which will probably have very similar answers today and 3 years from now, but when it comes to evolving concepts, it is in the benefit of the community to encourage such communications. 
I have learned a lot from this community and it will be a shame if the policies of FD start banning such discussions in the future. Questions like these need to be asked and answered every 5 months, in my opinion.

 Seems that a shift from running a compelling crowdfunding campaign to win much needed start-up investment to simply gaining recognition is trending, oftentimes resulting in a monetary break even (and PR surplus) after the campaign closes. However, haven't seen many cases when the traffic generated is converting, anyone else?
