Any simple online solutions out there for screen capture with audio?

We are working on a very complex product for a niche market. In order for us to understand the pain points we want to record users/testers while they are performing a task on their computers.

Do you know any services out there which will let us do  screen capture with audio, without downloading and installing new software (online services are preferred)?

The users we want to test are in various timezones and ideally we want an unmoderated solution where the users can start recording at a time convenient for them.

We will provide the tester and will not need additional testers.

Thank you for your help!

Not sure what the backend looks like, but http://www.usertesting.com/ may work for you. I’ve used the small business version and they have good ability for testers to get prompts, provide audio commentary, etc. Their enterprise version lets you use your own panel, but I’m less familiar with how that works.

If I understand you correctly, you can do this with HTML5: http://html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/streaming/screenshare . Browser support varies though.

Smashing Magazine has a great summary of usability tools here:

There's a table near the end summarizing options. Check it out.

Thank you all for your input. Very prompt and helpful as always.

For this project we are looking for a hosted/web based solution and www.openhallway.com seems to fit the bill. I'll try all of the above and post if/when I find something interesting.
