Anybody have info on best P2P payment platforms to integrate into a social commerce mobile app?

I'm about to start development on a hyper-local mobile platform for small tasks and services. One of the core features of the application is the ability for task posters to pay task performers through the application. I had initially designed the application to integrate Venmo since that platform is popular among my user base, but they aren't allowing access to their API at the moment. I'm wondering if anybody has insight into other options I should explore.

Some of the other platforms I've come across take 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction, which is too large of a cut on small tasks in which a person may be earning $1/$2 (ie delivery). Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you Mark, will go through this with the rest of the team.

Sebastian, we are facing a similar process at GenCapp. Fairly easy to integrate mechanisms, but watch the fine print and the liability issues. Everybody wants to be your friend until someone has to eat chargebacks. Investigate Bitcoin/Ethereum.

Sebastian, there are a number of things to consider when selecting a payment solution - customer experience, geographies being covered and how you want to handle fraud risk to name a few. I'd be happy to get on a call and walk through some additional considerations. Kurt Sent from my iPhone

Hi Derick and Kurt,

I appreciate the insight. We've been doing our research and are trying to weigh all the variables to find the right fit, just a bit unsure at the moment.

Hi Sebastian,
What you are describing is a marketplace and I know for a fact that Braintree marketplace supports Venmo for your providers (so they can get paid directly on their Venmo account).Last time I checked Venmo was not enabled yet on the customer side but that might be different now (Braintree allows paying with PayPal as well).

The charge you are describing is pretty standard on the payment processing industry so I really doubt you will find something significatively smaller (if you do please let me know =)). Btw, Braintree won't charge you any commission for the first 50K that you process with them, so that might help

I am working with a startup which has its own payment gateway and charged only 25c flat fee per transaction and p2p is free. We are not live yet but if this sounds interesting let me know.

Hi Gyancarlo,

Appreciate the insight, I was definitely looking into Braintree, at least to start, since they don't charge on first $50k and their rates after that amount are standard within the industry. I also really like that they support Venmo and PayPal.

Hi Tim,

Would definitely be interested in learning more about your platform.
