Anyone have any advice for foreign director of an Indian company?

Hi, I'm working through a few opportunities that are available to me; one of which is with an Indian FinTech start-up. Anyone have any experiences or advice they could offer to me, a foreign national (UK resident)?

Would ideally like to understand further the legalities, tax, and other obligations expected of me. The Founding team have furnished me with official documents, but I would like people's real-life experiences.

Of course, I would consult a lawyer prior to signing anything but would like an overview before investing anymore time/money.

Any help and advice would be great appreciated.

Many thanks,

Gareth

If you don't mind, I would prefer answers on this thread so that other members in the same situation don't have to ask the same question.

Make sure you have a very good international lawyer who can advise you of all the ways you can be taken advantage of doing business with a foreign entity.
