I am moving my business, and myself, from LA to DFW. We are about to do another round, sort of a completion of our seed/angle round. Does anyone have any thoughts as to if it would be more or less difficult to find funding in Dallas?
I would think that it would depend on what type of business it is.
There are several active angel groups in and around Dallas. I believe NTAN has about 2000 investors alone. There are also a number of VCs.
I do not know much about the environment in LA, but I would expect it to be about the same with the right contacts and a business that plays well in the ecosystem. Healthcare, telecom, fin tech and energy are The staples, but we have a good number of software companies as well.
In my experience, pretty easy. There are a lot of people with big pockets who are looking into good investment. Unlike LA, there are not enough people, who can multiply their investments. I had way more issues finding good investment rather than funding. Depends on the numbers(specifically, your ROI). If you can offer a stable 5% ROI, your phone will be dying from constant calls.
P.S. Give me a call once you be in DFW
With websites now taking on crowd equity, or angel funding I wouldn't think it would matter where you are located. Tons of people look for something to invest in that cant find a good product/business. I may be interested depending on what it is and the seed amount.
No idea what its like in dallas because im from another country ,but sometimes its worth relocating or moving , you may find a better opportunity there
