Anyone had used both telemarketing (cold calling) and email marketing (cold emailing) for customer acquisition... (for services like web development or similar)

Which one of them worked well? Please suggest according to your experiences, you can suggest more options/opinions if you have.

No, because cold emailing is illegal. If you violate CAN-SPAM laws, you put your company at very great risk. And yes, I know there are a lot of fly-by-night companies that send email in violation. Don't be one of them. Get to know the regulations in detail around BOTH telemarketing and email marketing. Be ethical from the start.

Syed, @Paul is right. You can only send emails to opt-in email addresses. However, you can cold call businesses, but for good results you should probably have a really good call to action. I.e. giveaway a free trial service.. landing page, email design, brochure design, digital design, logo, something your great at with a quick turnaround, etc. If you do a great job, they might pay for services.

Email is a necessary part of business development. A good email automation system will allow you to stay in compliance with spam laws (you just have to respect opt-out requests). As suggested by others, add inbound marketing to your campaigns through a good website. You'll also get a good boost from targeted advertising. This is just the tip of the iceberg but a good start to start seeing results from which you can fine tune.

Cold emailing is cheaper but cold calling, when properly done, can still work - even though fewer people are picking up the phone and robocallers have undermined this for everyone. The key is in the approach and the messaging.
