App Revenue by Category?

Gabe Mott CEO at Huedoku Labs: Mapping Human Color Perception

I've been googling for an hour and have come across a ton of incredibly intersting data, but not the topline I am looking for. Sometimes it helps to ask for help as the answer may be-- "give up, you don't even need that, here's something better that you really need". So feel free, this is open for feedback.

Looking for Ideally: Total Revenue on the iTunes Store grouped by App category by the month.
Would still be useful: if it included Android and was for the entire year.
Example: (I am making this up)
August 2015 $$$$$
Games: 3 billion
Music: 2.5 billion
Social Networking: 2 billion
Photo/Video: 2 billion
etc...

For your amusement and to avoid as many generic responses as I can, here's where I've looked and what I have found.
Anyway, you get the point, lot's of close but nothing hitting it.

This is all for my pitch/slidedeck. It's important for us to show the relative market size of Gaming vs. Social Networking vs. Messaging as well as the overall size across time. Maybe this is so hard to find because the business models are so entirely different (in-app purchase, vs ads vs. none yet/acquisition)...

Growth hacking isn’t about quick wins and shortcuts, although they exist. In this course, we’ll cover the six-step growth hacking framework, how to measure user retention for your business, how to increase engagement and retention, and a bunch of case studies.

Apptopia has all the market data for every app both on iOS and Android. Just read a story about them on TC http://techcrunch.com/2015/09/18/peace-the-top-selling-ad-blocker-from-instapaper-founder-removed-from-app-store/

Thanks Gil.  Gabe, Apptopia does currently provide this data and we are on the verge of providing monthly reports for each category as well.  So you can track how total opportunity size and "average revenue per app" are trending for every category (in both iOS & Google Play).

Thanks Gil and Jonathan.
Apptopia is awesome, providing needed data I certainly haven't had access to prior. I signed up for the seven day trial and will make time for a deep dive.
I'm still not seeing aggregate category data to compare revenue for games vs. photo for example.
