As a newbie, should you go for an advisor or a cofounder?

If you are new to the business world and only have an idea (or already started but very early stages) and have no clue where to go or what to do...would you and your idea benefit more from an advisor/mentor or a cofounder (or both in one)? And why?

Ana, if you take on an adviser and it doesnt work out, then its very easy to get rid of him or her. So in my opinion thats your first step.
Having gotten a good adviser then your next step is to review with him or her whether or not you also need a co-founder. This decision should be a coldly analytical decision and entered into very carefully as choosing the wrong co-founder can be a big problem.

both, but separate.  You need as many eyeballs and as much experience on your startup as you can get.  A mentor/advisor or 2 in addition to a cofounder or 2 would be good. At your very early stage i'm not sure that more than 3 founders (total including yourself) will buy you much and can in fact hamper your progress (by increasing conflict).
