Employees are by far your most vital business components. You are the driver of your business vehicle, but it is the employees who serve as the integral parts that keep that vehicle in operation. They all serve different functions, and you select them based on their individual strengths. You look for those that best fit your business needs and select them based on the roles and functions they are able to perform.
Think of your recruiting process the same way you would approach capital investment. You hire employees based on a long-term outlook because you believe in them. When you hire them it is with the intent to keep them in your company forever. You want to empower them so that they can be as successful as possible in their careers, and in turn help to make your company more successful as well.
Your employees will always be at their best when you have them doing those things that are best aligned with their own unique natural strengths. To get the most out of them and have them become your best marketing tools and evangelists, you need to find those things they love to do, and then join them with projects that they can be passionate about on a long-term basis. When you can do that you will find that they come to work with a positive attitude and will be upbeat and tireless - relentlessly pushing themselves to deliver the best results they can while taking their own productivity to its highest level regardless of their current compensation.
