Best approach to contacting well known authors about licensing their IP?

I have an immersive storytelling framework that I've built, and I'm moving on to my next strategic goal in my vision.  There are a handful of authors that I have on my list to contact about licensing their stories for my product.  I've contact a few of them, but they all seem to lead to either dead ends or no response at all.  I must be doing a lot wrong here, but I'm not sure how to change my approach.

Can anyone recommend or advise me on a better way to approach these authors about IP licensing?  Maybe the authors aren't the most direct way to contact?

Might want to check their names against some other databases for published works of art. Literary agents might be a good help. Contact Jeff Ross in Los Angeles is mine and he might know how. I am actually interested to learn more about your project as I might have some properties to add to your framework. Let's talk next week?

I know the owner of a company that helps tell the story for the top 1% of the world.  Mostly CEO's of successful companies.  If you want to message me I can see if they are open to speaking with you.  Going that route would put you directly in touch with an existing customer base.

Look at the publishers of the author's books. Most authors do not separate book rights from electronic rights in book deals, so typically the publishers own copyrights. Their licensing departments would likely be a good place to start.

Have you tried reaching out to publishers? I have a teeny bit of experience with this. I created two apps based on books. It was the publishers I dealt with. Sent from my iPhone

Thanks everyone for your great advice. I think I have a great direction to take now. My biggest problem was in contacting the authors directly, and I now know I need to establish a relationship with the publishers first.
