We need an e-commerce architect for our site -- it doesn't have to be a dev shop, but could be a consultant or contractor. Need someone who understands the business and how to create a robust site.

I think if you have your site "somewhat" completed and you should get it released to some of your early customers to test and get their feedback. You should do that even before you get a tech consultant so you have something to speak to show them.  The sooner you get it into your customers hands the more you will know about what you will need to build in Phase 2, what you should stop focusing on building because they aren't using it and what you "haven't been thinking about."  The consultant, like our company, can provide guidance on the best way to build something based on their experience and also your customer feedback. A consultant can help for sure but your customers should be telling you.

Hi Stephanie, we are actually going through the same process right now and I'm based in the Denver area. I could introduce you to my local network of SME's and share our experiences. Let me know if you would like to get together.

Hi Stephanie- I always recommend that you the founder have a basic knowledge of what ANY consultant is going to work on. Read the docs here to get a better understanding of "how to create a robust site":aws.amazon.com/architecture. The ones on Ecom are therelevantones to understand. Also this is a goodresourceas well: http://aws.amazon.com/ecommerce-applications.
If you need additionally help you know that I know all the "A" players in Denver/Boulder...just ask.

Stephanie, A few basic questions really determine all else: What kind of product are you offering? How many variables are there on an offering (Size, shape, color, etc) How many products? How many visitors do you expect? There are MANY other considerations but in terms of picking a platform, these are a good start. Regards, Matt
