I have been trying to build a small (15-20) enterprise sales team for my business. I have come across several browser based suites like salesforce etc. Needed to understand if there is something that help me do with the best possible UI the following a) Manage team members and their leads, b) Track active vs dormant vs dead leads c) closures. Anything with a simple enough UI would help to train new guys.

We use salesforce with a tab overlay app called SKUID.

I have been using RelateIQ for a year and love it.  Albeit, Salesforce just bought them a while back.

SFDC is likely the best bet.  There are alternatives, many of which we've tried at times, but we always come back to Salesforce because it has the most options, agile in mobile, easy to use (once you make the initial investment of time to learn the basics of the software) and fairly customizable.  Also, more and more, as you expand your sales personnel, they come in the door SFDC knowledgeable, easing orientation and speeding on boarding.

Thanks for this. I have been hearing off late that salesforce is a little clunky (if efficient) for smaller teams. it also has a suite of services and applications which may not be easily needed. The idea is to maintain clear and readable LEADS chart, project demand and closures from lead and also manage the team on ground. The weekly / daily progress charts of individuals should also be easily extractable.

So the suite should help and support team management, sales potential projection and efficient reporting. Would love to see these combined with simple web and mobile UI

I have been using https://getbase.com/ for my team for a while now and am happy with it.  It does not have all of the capabilities that SF has nor does it have all of the cost or contracts.  It has been simple to customize and for my smaller sales team it has provided the tracking and data gathering capabilities.  I would recommend that you take a look.  It may or may not be right for you but at least something to consider.
