We have several offices in NYC and have over 12 years of experience as a professional service provider managing the books for startups.  We've been managing the books for the Cambridge Innovation Center (an incubator for over 800 startups in MA) and lots of startups in that space since 2004.  We currently have about 800 clients around the country, over 1/2 of which are startups.  I'm happy to connect with you any time, and check supportingstrategies.com (supportingstrategies-dot-com) for more info.  My direct phone number is listed on my bio on our site as well as on my LinkedIn profile.  BEst of luck to you in growing your business!

Hi Patrick,
Here's my advice... Caveat, we have a small business bookkeeping as a small part of what we do but are all full at the moment! From running several firms and advising many, we think you should work with a CPA who will be a continuing advisor to set up your books -- key point: set up your books to support taxes, that will greatly reduce your CPA fees down the road. You can always subset your tax categories to support your ops needs. Then and only then get a bookkeeper who is culturally akin to both your firm and your CPA. That seems to be the road to long term bookkeeping happiness.

I'll caveat that I haven't used these guys personally, but Bench.co is a classic startup for startups. They offer what looks to be a very comprehensive SaaS model for managing your finances, ranging from ~$100-300 depending how big & complicated your situation is. I plan to use them once I have too much on my plate to handle.
