Do I have to declare my DE C Corp on my personal federal taxes (e.g. 1040)?

Hi all,

maybe some of you are wondering the same:
  • You set up your startup as a DE C-Corp in 2013
  • You are filing your taxes now... you need to declare all kinds of mutual funds, stocks purchased, etc.
  • Now you might wonder as well: Do I need to declare somewhere in my personal taxes that I founded a C-Corp?
How have you guys handled this in the past?

Typically, you include an 83(b) election form (your friendly neighborhood lawyer can hook you up with one).

Nope, unless you personally gained stock that's worth something from the founding. But you do need to file a corporate tax return (deadline was March 17) if the corporation was founded in or before 2013 - whether or not it had any income to report.

Disclaimer: check with an accountant for tax advice - this is just what I believe to be true.

Nope, I haven't declared anything. But, I may be wrong in not declaring it. I don't know. Cheers VS Joshi Founder - TrintMe vs@trintme.com 408 507 6507
