Do startups still go stealth?

I remember that about seven years ago it was en vogue for startups to go “stealth.” Keep in mind that the environment was a lot different then than it is now. There were fewer startups, fewer ideas had been seized, and it was a lot easier for one new startup to get buzz.

Today, this has all changed, of course. Anecdotally, at least, I don’t hear many startups calling themselves “stealth.” Have the advantages of going stealth disappeared? Is it kind of lame to call yourself this?
