Does anyone have any recommendations for a retail/clothing manufacturer?

I've been trying to find a reliable retail manufacturer for my sock e-commerce site that is based in the US and hopefully has decent min orders.  Anyone here in the same space as me that can help?

HI Shannon,

I had some success with very few manufactures. I am actually trying to start a sock company myself! I have preliminary designs that many people like but I can't find a manufacturer that seems to work with me on fabrics and is responsive. I did get some prototypes made from a few and I can put you in touch with them. There is a list of manufacturers at http://www.legsource.com/Mill_website_links.htm. However, I probably contacted 20 manufactures in the US and in 8 other countries with very disappointing results. I also contacted the North Carolina Hosiery Technology outfit and they were also unresponsive. Please let me know if you find some and also if you want to try to join forces on this.

Hey guys, I'm in ecommerce as well (mostly hard good like tools and electronics, but also interested in making specialty outdoor sports socks) and I can definitely relate to your predicament. Have you tried Worldwide Brands (http://www.worldwidebrands.com/wwb/howitworks.asp) yet? They make you pay a $300 fee to join, so I've avoided them, but some people swear by their lists of high quality manufacturers. You are supposedly able to get low Minimum Order Quantities and also dropship. I'm curious but not convinced. The other best suggestion would be to ask http://www.forbarefeet.com/ if they would private label manufacture socks for you. They make socks for the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. Good luck and keep us updated- would also be interested in joining forces in a group buy. Chris

yeah that site seems pretty legit but way too expensive. Yes I would be interested in maybe splitting the cost for one subscription, anyone else?

Hi, one of the largest manufacturers of socks in Europe who sell wholesale and I know are looking at the USA is the Sock Shop Group - http://ruia.co.uk/

You may want to talk to them.

Not to harp on an old discussion but as mentioned the manufacturing solutions center in NC ( formerly North Carolina Hosiery Technology) is amazing. Working with them now, let me know if you want an intro. Best,
