I've been looking to sell to a much larger strategic partner within the fashion tech industry who has more contacts and access to more investment.
Hi there! I have a solution for you! We are launching an online marketplace called Lexit to sell startups & assets in the beginning of October. If you want more information, feel free to contact me.
Yep! These are called investment banks. They range from the huge (Goldman Sachs) to the tiny ("consultants" with no office). If you expect to sell for less than $100M then you're looking at small outfits, 10 employees or less, who will probably want 3-5% of your deal value but won't charge anything upfront.
My advice: go as far as you can without a banker. If/when it gets overwhelming, start asking around for help. If you expect (and be honest with yourself about this) to sell for under $20M, then DO NOT use a banker. It won't be worth it for either side.
Talk to directly-I agree. Start out with an email to the CEO of the companies you want to sell to if you know who they are. If not, research and find.
Look for a boutique IB to help you.
Talk o those large players directly.
Talk to VC firms that deal with the stage your company is at and that are in and fashion tech.
