Full stack web technologies · Front-end Development

Does the real full stack developer really exist? Or is there going to be always an inclination towards frontend or backend development?

I want to find a web developer for my company. There are so many different technologies, platforms and developers emerging that it is hard to decide what one actually needs. Maybe I am wrong but this whole thing about the web development used to be much simpler. Now there are front-end, back-end and full stack developers available so you have to be really in the middle of it in order to understand it. What do you think about the full stack developers, is it better to employ a single full stack developer than a front-end and a back-end developer? Do full stack developers even exist?

Yes they're real.

I am one, so I'd say, yes :-)

They do exist. But, probably not as many as before. I am seeing more and more developers opting to specialize in either 'frontend development' or 'backend development'.

Yes we exist but it's usually better to separate the roles into design and development than to hire one person to do both. It'll cost less to use a designer for that portion of a project and it'll speed up dev time if you don't make the developers think through how the product should look.
