About to bring on staff and interns and there is HR complaince galor out there.  What are people using to manage payroll, HR and benefits?

Too many founders wing it when it comes to financials; they have no idea how to explain them to investors. In this course, we’ll teach you how to build a basic financial model; read financial statements; and understand cash flow, balance sheets, and income statements.

Everyone under the sun seems to use TriNet.  We're not there yet, but I got over a dozen recommendations from friends and advisees.

For a startup, TriNet is overkill.

Zenefits is a good option if you're in CA. They can handle all the paperwork, etc, plus will give you access to discounts on Intuit payroll full service option. When you're ready, they can handle healthcare enrollment, too.
