I am amazed that I haven't worked with a single company that thought this way. No wonder people left right after the 4th year (or the 1st year) of employment.
As a founder, you’re always in fundraising mode (whether active or passive). In this course, we’ll teach you how to successfully raise follow-on capital, establish a valuation for your company, build an investor pipeline for your next round, and more.

Most companies I've worked with get their knickers in a bunch when one attempts to point out their potential downside in making everyone an at-will employee. That's because (IMO of course) whenever there is a genuinely better (money, fulfilment, the whole enchilada) offer in writing

We are considering this for a certain level of our staff (key management and high producing sales reps) but are concerned with some of the usual issues that come to mind.  Does anyone have any actual experience rolling this type of structure out in the long term to weigh in on the discussion?

Interesting, my reply was cut short:

Most companies I've worked with get their knickers in a bunch when one attempts to point out their potential downside in making everyone an at-will employee.  That's because (IMO of course) whenever there is a genuinely better (money, fulfilment, the whole enchilada) offer in writing on the table, you should take it.  Its existence alone is proof you are currently undervalued and under appreciated.  The strategy outlined in this article is an excellent way to keep that from happening.  But I wouldn't hold my breath.
