How and where can I find partners for a non-profit venture?

I've been meaning to build a service to help non-profits. Have been conducting research surveys to validate the idea. The next step I believe is building a team, and not sure how can I find a partner that shares the same vision as me for building an idea that might or might not give us any ROI initially.

Sonali- are you willing to share more of what your vision is so we can network on your behalf?

Sonali, I currently have a social entrepreneurship start-up that is generating revenue and has both a non-profit and for-profit customer base. I'd love to speak with you offline about your project and see if I have any advice I can pass along. Let me know if you are interested.

Sonali, your question and idea are not very specific - what service do you want to build, and why do you think it's needed? What prompted your desire to get involved in this initiative? As someone who has co-founded six different nonprofits and sat/sit on the Boards of several nonprofits, I can confidently state that nonprofits have a lot of needs, albeit an increasing number of those needs have been recently served by technological solutions (e.g., fundraising, website building, newsletter/marketing, tax return filing, etc). Thus, please give a little more specifics, and, since you mention that you've surveyed some nonprofits, what is the preliminary feedback from them?

Adding to Karen's question - what is your research question(s) and what kinds of non-profits are you looking at? You might be surprised to know where non-profits are used and for what. Having worked in the charities organisations before, my current interest is in social entrepreneurs which is an alternative to the profit / non profit dichotomy. There are many who wish to work for causes and need to pay bills to be able to do that. What organisation form it takes may not be the best way to define your interests. Additionally, you need to clarify if what you are offering is non profit too or for profit. Asking because you mention ROI and non profit in the same paragraph.

Sonali, have you talked to non-profits who really, really need what you're proposing? Are you planning to monetize this idea or just get it out there? What's your vision?

@Peter...Thank you for your reply! Yes, I have talked to the non-profits that I've worked with, and they are definitely interested in testing out the tool! I would definitely like to monetize it , considering that I will have to spend some good amount to get the tool developed on my own, unless I can find a highly technical developer to come on board!

@Lester @Karen: I would like to provide a tool as a service to nonprofits that would have the nonprofit and for-profit model. This would require investment for development of course, and I feel a person who has the experience and technical background could be beneficial to bring in as a partner, and shares the same vision as mine, to serve nonprofits! Currently, I am in a very early stage of research, sending out surveys to nonprofits to understand their needs better.
