Not easy to find rockstar sales people

Linn, yes it is difficult to find rockstar sales people. but I think you need to provide value to people first. Free content that will help them. Make them believe you are an authority in your business and solve their problems. Customers will come on their own.

I would agree with Safwan Khan. I think the better goal is to optimize the value proposition of the product to the target customer and make it easier for non-rockstar sales people to communicate that value and close a sale. I know for me it is difficult to know exactly where to start in terms of market growth, so maybe look for a solid marketing consultant who can lay out a marketing plan for you to execute

1) Stop looking for "rockstar" anyone. Find people with depth of experience and meaningful skills and solid references who fit your team and will allow you to run the rest of your business. Rockstars, particularly those who claim to be rockstar anythings, are petulant, shallow, and impossible to lead. Pretty much like the term was created for. 2) Make sure you understand what a leader in that space in your geography is worth. I have seen some stunning naivete in postings off several boards I monitor (Angel List is nearly my daily laugh) where "Rockstar Sales Leader" with 80 skills and education requirements, in SF/NYC/LA is scoped at $60-$80 K and zero or very minimal equity. For that you get a rock, not a rockstar.
