How do I prepare a sales and marketing plan for my API offering?

I am starting off with the sales of our API offering at Vibe. We are targeting sales team in companies and CRM/Martech companies for partnerships. 

How do I prepare a sales plan? What are the key points I should include?

Honestly? Hire an experienced sales consultant. This isn't something you can learn overnight. 

Two Silicon Valley-based companies are:
1. Los Altos Advisors, John Heltzel - john@lostaltosadvisors.com

They will work with you to develop your messaging, as well as help you reach the right people to sell into.

Mikko - Yes, we have two solutions on the shelves now - and API for developers and a serviced product called Vibe Cleanse for sales and marketing.

Thanks Rob and Lydia. Yes, we have built the API offering (https://z1.vibeapp.co/dev/) and have rolled out to a few select users. 

We have a plugin and service offering which is used by over 100,000 people already and the API is an extension to the product. The existing users is very well the first channel we can sell to. 

I am looking for advice on specifics of API sales.

Hey Jofin,

to me it seems a bit odd that you are marketing an API to sales teams. I would imagine those teams would be end-users of some middleware product and your API rather than the raw API. Hence I would agree with Lydia regarding hiring a sales consultant to assist you on getting the message right.
