How do you handle phone spammers?

As a businessman, I have to answer any call, even from unknown or unidentified numbers, because it can be a potential client, or who knows, even an investor :-)

But I do get spam calls, which have nothing to do with my business, and it is distracting and irritating.

How do you handle such calls? What do you do when you receive such a call?

Tell them to hang on for a second, mute your microphone and go back to what you were doing.

You'll accomplish 3 things:

- You'll don't waste your time

- You'll waste their time, and frustrate them

- During that time, you'll prevent them from calling other people

Most of all, learn to be able laugh at them, rather than getting frustrated.

Spamming phone scammers back has become an artform. YouTube is full of entertaining videos.

Some people call back (with a blocked number) and manage to put the scammers into a conference call with themselves. Others pretend to play along for 45 minutes, playing dumb.

Of course, as a businessman, you don't have time for things like that, but if everyone does what I suggested and wastes just a couple of minutes of the spammers' time, eventually, it won't be worth it for them.
