How do you track employees absence days?

Do you use any time-off management software in your company?

Or just spreadsheets?

Whomever is in charge of payroll collects approved time-off requests. It doesn't matter the size of the company. If you have a process for approving time off, then follow that process first, but the actual approved time off always flows to the person responsible for payroll. They deduct from any bank of accrued hours. And they also report to the manager if any time off will exceed accrued hours, to seek approval. Since most companies with limited time off deduct from a bank of hours that affects payroll, this is why the payroll manager keeps track in whatever system they use to track payroll in the first place.

This might be the controller/accountant, it might be an outside service, or it might be part of a whole HR department.

Spreadsheets are not databases.
