How is the Angel Pitch event with Founders space?

We are thinking of pitching at the Angel Pitch event with Founders space and was wondering if anyone has pitched at the event. I am looking for input on the quality of the event and if it was a good lead generation for angel/seed investors. There is a $150 fee, where they train and coach you on the pitch. Thus, I wanted feedback to understand whether this is worth my time and dime.

A great idea is 1% of the work. Execution is the other 99%. In this course, we’ll teach you how to conduct market analysis, create an MVP and pivot (if needed), launch your business, survey customers, iterate your product/service based on feedback, and gain traction quickly.

There is a very rich thread on pay-to-pitch already http://members.founderdating.com/discuss/1279/Is-Pay-to-Pitch-considered-predatory-today

Some organizations charge thousands of dollars to pitch - Keiretsu Forum and others.  I'm definitely not into that.

If you want to join our Pitch Event in September, you can pay $20 for a ticket, where you get to speed pitch, or $150 for the longer pitch.  Steve Austin, who is producing this event, puts in a ton of time in 1-on-1 mentoring before the event to make sure the startups do a really incredible job.  That's why he charges $150.  It's definitely worth it for his time.  He's really good at what he does and an incredible guy.

If you don't want to pay $150, apply for our event in October, it's only $20, the same as the ticket price for everyone else.  Nothing extra for pitching.  If you're selected, you'll pitch in front of the angels & VCs in a long pitch. If you aren't selected, you can still do the speed pitching and networking.  So it's a no lose proposition.  And if nothing else, there's lots of food and drink you can enjoy.

I hope this answers your question.

I will never pay to pitch.  I've done it before and regretted it.  Those opportunities were for $1k or more.    With Founders Space, its $150...which I think is only to cover the costs of the 1 on 1 mentoring before the opportunity to pitch.  Its not for the competition itself.

I pitched at Founders Space in July and was one of the winners (yes, we did get some capital).  I would do it again.  Also, the mentoring session before hand was totally worth it.  It made the difference for us to win.
