How to take online payments in a country restricted by PayPal from receiving inflows?

I stay in Zimbabwe, a country blacklisted by PayPal and barred for incoming transfers though I can make outgoing payments using the platform. Background of the problem is bad politics between Harare and Washington DC dating back to the year 2000. Subsequent US governments since the Bush administration have not altered the US foreign policy since then. Is there any workaround I can try and still get business from folks who prefer using PayPal as their primary payment option online?

Every business needs an eye-catching website, and building one shouldn’t be expensive or time-intensive. Learn how to set up a Wordpress site, pick a stunning theme, add a blog and newsletter, sell products, and monitor analytics — in just one hour.

Its not bad politics. Simply country's transaction volume carry no interest for the PayPal + your financial system carry no compliance to deal with PayPal integration. However there are ways to over come this issue. Business and offshoring is one.

There's not a good solution that doesn't involve money laundering. The problem you are facing is a policy meant to put pressure on your government and the Zimbabwe National Bank because the ZWD currency is unpredictable (worthless on the global market) and the gov't started printing 'US dollar notes' illegally and closing USD-based bank accounts. It's unfortunate that productive citizens like yourself have to pay the price and are precluded from contributing in a global marketplace.

My 'non-advice', because I can't offer any good advice, would be to try to find out if there is a foreign bank in Zimbabwe that will allow you to open an account and whose country is acceptable to Paypal.

Good luck Richard, I wish you the best. :)

Have you inquired into a wire transfer or letter of credit?

I suffer the same fate here in Nigeria. Allowed to register an account you can barely use. A wire tranfer is possible here but the charges are too high. Its really Unfortunate.
