With new privacy regulation (GDPR, California, Vermont - and so many other countries), and the backlash on Facebook after the CA fiasco promising it will get worse, doing it yourself anywhere is a bad idea. Get a lawyer with experience in privacy in the countries you intend to target.

Put the most relevant and important terms and privacy items as bullet points at the beginning of your consent document.


Require users to tick a few major boxes consenting to the core terms. Otherwise they are just going to click ok without reading which leaves you open to several consent court cases (in my understanding) where the complexity of consent forms has been used as a legal justification for challenging your consent process. Informed consent needs to actually be "informed".
