No, I wouldn't. Probably not even for free.

In any case, if you're trying to conduct a market research, that's not the right question to ask - people generally don't know what they WILL do (let alone what the WOULD do), they only know what they DID in the past (and even that is sketchy), so the right way is to ask what they did or are doing already, specifically how do they already solving the problem that your device is trying to solve?

Also, this is not the right forum to ask such questions, because entrepreneurs and business people are probably not representative of your target audience.

While I generally agree with @ Dimitry Rotstein , let me add...

You are on the right track as IoT is helping create smart appliances and environments. And right there is your challenge. A lot of new appliances have, or as we saw at CES will soon have, this type of functionality built in. In addition, IMO, the proposed business model (selling widgets) is flawed. Any product or service that generates an eCommerce transaction is better optimized for revenue if it is given away free and money is generated as a percentage of the eCommerce transaction.
