I want to take incoming leads from several sources, send out auto-responders via text message, nurture the lead and have conversation using scripts and questions. What type of programmer would be best for this type of project?
Someone with previous experience of automating not just with API, but without.
Depends on your needs, but not every platform will cover all your automation needs via API.
Me and my team at vanila.io are automating all kind of boring stuff and social to grow our business and speed up some processes.
We have some real cool stuff, growth few Instagram accounts to 55k in 5-6 months, totally organically.
Contact me if you wanna know more Greg.
Do you have to hire a programmer? If you're willing to do the dirty work, there are companies that do the different parts, may integrate together, or offer a Zapier connection to connect. Check out HelloBar, Drift, and MailChimp to get you thinking what you need.
I also recommend drawing out the funnel so it's easier to articulate what solution you need for a given part.
If you don't want to do it yourself, your developer depends on your technology stack and what you've built so far.
Hi Greg - I think you would be looking for an experienced full stack developer. Someone that is capable of both building the plumbing and building a decent enough user experience. As many mentioned, there are a number of solutions each with a different 'sauce'. I'm working on a solution for marketing automation, sales, and support, but focused mainly on your web site as the basis of this solution. I'm considering text messages just another output, but you're query makes me wonder if that's right.
An 'API gluer' with some bot scripting
I don’t know where you are with your project. But I would say that the first person you should have is a storyteller. You have to remember that although you are wanting to use a bot that you are still going to have a conversation with your customers. Bots are good for leading people to a determined endpoint. But to get to the goal of the conversation it has to be engaging while simultaneously promoting your brand.
Once you have the storyboard and related storylines established. Then you will need a developer preferably one that is familiar with the various frameworks available such as facebook.ai, Microsoft’s Bot Framework and others. Bot building is still relatively new. As such not a whole lot of developers have the skills just yet. There are companies which also can be used.
This is an area which I have recently started exploring, researching as well as building bits if my own. I can tell you that the technical side of building Bots is not that difficult. It's the storyline which is harder. If you would like to connect let me know.
I'm taking a wild guess that you haven't looked at any of the boxed solutions for this. There are half a dozen that immediately spring to mind that will require zero programming on your part. To send via SMS you will need an SMS gateway, but again, those are also available boxed, as are AI chat script programs. Why waste resources reinventing?
I would look for a CTO/technical lead with NLP experience. Do a Google search on ELIZA ...
There are marketing automation solutions that can do lead nurturing, scoring and responding via email, text, social, etc. Bots are can very useful, but I don't know that I would exclusively use them for lead nurturing, unless you are sure that real time conversations given bot limitations (or associated cost limitations based on the bot implementation) are the best converting journey for your potential customers.
A few people hit the nail on the head here - there are several "out of the box" solutions in this space. Do you have a niche you're competing with? At the end of the day there are a lot of ways to build this. If you want to really innovate you're talking about someone with machine learning and python experience.
With that said - without a mass amount of data the machine learning model will never validate. More context would help all of us guide you in the right direction. What niche are you operating in where out of the box solutions won't solve the problem?
