Patrick Cauthorn Looking for inspiration in rapid prototyping

November 7th, 2017

I'm looking for resources/websites/suggestions to be able to connect with like minded enterperneurs for that first stage when you don't know whether there is something to an idea or not. I'd like the group to be able to send out ideas for initial feedback to see if it's worth more time and maybe even to show prototypes/pitch to and get feedback on that next level.

This would be for people that have an interest and might do the same with their own ideas. It would be nice if the group provided motivation and inspiration to complete things as well.

Any suggestions on resources or for the size/make up of such a group is appreciated.

You can probably meet people and exchange ideas at MeetUp.com. Or better yet if you can't find it anywhere Develope one. :)

Thanks to everyone that responded.

It doesn't seem like there is anything out there for this so it was nice to hear that people are interested.

If you are interested and have not already done it please send me your email as I'll start it off that way.

Again this will be for that initial idea screening, later if it gets good feedback, of course you'll want to get it in front of potential customers. I view this as part of rapid prototyping (Check out Tom Chi on youtube if you aren't familiar).

If you need someone to bounce ideas off from a manufacturability standpoint, I might be able to help. I do product development, design, and full scale production contract manufacturing as a business.

I'm not soliciting your business as your scenario isn't my niche', and as a business I purposefully stay away from. But I'm always up for giving advice.

I like the idea; however my only reservation is it doesn't matter what a group of people think about your idea unless they would actually buy it. I could tell you I thought putting a message on a potato and sending it via snail mail was the dumbest idea, but someone has a business doing just that: https://potatoparcel.com/ (I have no affiliation with these geniuses)

This sounds more like a brainstorming group - to help develop the concept and design experiments to see if people would actual give you money for it. For that, I would love to be apart of it. Let me know if I'm tracking with you?

just create or join a MeetUp group. I'll add that your goal should be to test the idea on your prospective customers, not fellow entrepreneurs.

I was thinking about the same Patrick,

I even googled to see if I can find some groups / websites that exist already. Came across some sites but they're at the product level but nothing which Validates an Idea.

I have some ideas and wanted to validate them before working on them for the next level. If you are working on something or building a group, I'll be happy to be a part of it.

I like the idea. Very few Co-Founders on this site are listed as supporting the "idea" phase. I think such a group would be a good resource. Would you want the group to be part of Cofounderslab, or would it be through a different collaborative platform? Does Cofounderslab have a group feature?

It doesn't but there are no shortage of collaborative platforms out there.
