If you’re a former CTO whose startup failed, will you have trouble finding work again as a programmer?

I have a friend who was the CTO of a startup that’s winding down after a year and a half. From what she tells me, the business’s problems were partly technical and partly marketing/operations. She seems to think that because at least some of the issues were technical that means she will be “marked” in certain programming circles. I think that’s ridiculous because I know of so many founders who have failed, but I’m not on the tech side so I can’t entirely discount her fears. Is she misguided?
