Is there a Q/A platform like FounderDating Discuss for other websites?

We just launched a utility app that facilitates collaboration for cancer physicians which enables real time discussion and images sharing. We would like to have a module similar to founderdating discuss platform to generate a more social aspect to our site. Are there any platforms available to purchase or integrate?

Take a look at Discourse.

You could also look at some WordPress Q&A themes.

We have been recently developing a module we call "Conversation" and planning to add it to our larger general platform. It is not fully baked. If you are not getting anything better, please reach out to me and we can help you put something together.

Do you want to integrate the accounts for the main utility with the discussion board? You might want to get more specific advice ... an easy SAAS discussion board could easily lock you in, but some of the more general tools you might be able to integrate your app accounts, or change how it works over time. You might lean towards using the same underlying technology, look for forum-software in php/ruby/perl that matches the utility, so the same programmer can update or integrate them later.

Robert,

Is your utility app iOS, Android, Responsive Site, or else? And, will the discussion board be a part of this app or a separate entity all together, like a website? These will help determine what discussion board solutions are right for you.

Best,
Aleks

Thanks to all for the feedback/advice.  To answer some of the questions, the site is a cakephp website and not an iOS app.  Ideally, we would custom develop this and integrate it into our collaboration platform.  However, we have no traction yet and don't want to invest to much more into software development until there are signs of traction.  My developer is very knowlegeble and there is no doubt that he could develop the module in cakephp and may be cheaper in both he short and long run.  I really do like the FD Discuss platform and I would be happy with that for MVP.

Robert,

There is a bunch of plug-ins for CakePHP. You can search for them at:plugins.cakephp.org/packages?query=forum. Haven't had a chance to look through them to see whether it's similar to FD discussions. There's also others I've found with a quick google search that are pure PHP: http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/discussion-boards.

Your developer would be able to do the research to discover the best fitted discussion board fitting your needs and your technology.

Good luck,
Aleks
