Is there any research on the impact on literacy by age group with the increase in texting?

Recent research has shown that millennial population is 90% responsive to text messaging vs. telephone calls or e-mails with 3 minutes. Is there research that demonstrates any impact texting has on literacy? As a dyslexic  and a child with dyslexia I have seen their tendency to be more comfortable texting with friends vs. e-mail. Curious any sources of research?
