Looking for a platform that I can build a closed community and share photos and comments, any ideas?

I'm hoping to build on top of a mobile platform a specific application that allows people to share photos and then have others comment and or talk more about this - can be messaging or just typical iOS application. Any thoughts?

FWIW i dont mind the commercial responses. Many of the solutions are commercial.

Facebook's secret group feature works well for such a group.

Slack is great, and has a lot of different functionality (they just added team videoconferencing to the paid version).

Another option for photo and news sharing would be Place - https://place.xyz/. They have both a site and an app.

Maybe MightyBell would fit the bill?

I think the best could be using wordpress with buddypress and bbpress plugins and templates
You can find templates in buddypress.com

Look at Chupamobile for pre-developed apps with source code:

You can have a scalable Instagram type app with server support in a couple days for a few hundred dollars (note: many still use Parse so need to understand their migration plan).

I had pretty low expectations when I explored this last year. Realistically, what could you get for $399? I was pretty blown away. I branded, customized and integrated an app into our environment in ~ 3 weeks.

thanks for all these great suggestions/ we will be using the platform to build a consumer facing application (iOS or just web).

Deanna, can you clarify whether you're looking to build an internal tool or an app for others to use? Is this a consumer app or for the enterprise? May help narrow down recommendations.

Sounds like an exciting initiative! Just like with anything strategic, It would be prudent for you to determine your business requirements and key success factors, then translate them into technical requirements before finding a vendor or application. This way you are clear that the solution will advance your goals. It is a better approach (with higher success likelihood) than to choose a vendor first, then trying to retrofit your business goals into the platform.
