Looking for mobile developers

Paul Stadnyk Senior Creative Director, Digital Marketing and Design.

I'm looking to have a mobile app developed on the cheap. I've looked at services that offer drag & drop prototyping but because the functionality calls for a painting/designing interface they are not robust enough.

What can I expect to pay ballpark? And where is the best place to find mobile developers.

As you've indicated, there is a wide range of cost depending on what you're trying to build, so without more details it is difficult to give you better guidance. If you want to have a quick conversation on the phone I'll be happy to discuss.

Cheers

One reasonably cheap approach would be to use CS interns rather than full-time or temporary employees. Our students (my day job is CS prof), typically get about $20/hr. As the previous poster pointed out, time will vary widely depending on what you are trying to build.

Another approach would be sites like rentacoder - which is geared to cheap, short term contract work (mainly overseas). Managing an overseas project can become a disaster if you aren't careful.

Hey Paul,

check out oDesk.com.  I've used them for over 2 years now to code quite a few of my websites, and to find a virtual assistants.  But as Benjamin pointed out above, there are pro's and con's with working with overseas coders, but with some planning and persistence its definitely doable.

Let me know if you have any questions about the service.
