Hi All,
Does any have good recommendations for finding reliable sales people? Preferably in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area. We are in the pre-launch stage and are looking for people to get medical professionals interested in our product.  The position would be commission based.

Agree with Rob, although recent layoffs may have changed the equation.

In any case, often hard to get sales people directly into facilities - lots of rules, access issues, and central structures that block ability to purchase.

If you can, you may want to see if you can start with marketing.  Things like Sermo and Epocrates or continuing education platforms may give you a targeted reach at substantial efficiencies.

I would also suggest either going to a convention or partnering with an MD that has a passion for tech startups.

Not sure if you have an advertising budget, but you may want to check out Potomac Tech Wire.  It does a weekly "job blast" where you can post your opening.  Related Startup Digest has a DC group.  You may be able to synch up with them to post your opening or find avenues to locate and engage salespeople.

Also, as a quick hack, you may want to update your LinkedIn profile message to state "ComapnyX is Hiring Salespeople."

Otherwise, I've found when hiring sales people, a lot of word of mouth or looking at who is working firms in your sector (using LinkedIn) and seeing if any of them are interested in a new opportunity with you.

i would suggest looking for a sales-related Meetup in your area. Also, i would suspect that people with experience in medical sales will be quite expensive - you may find a commission only plan to be a non-starter.
