I have a personal care company. The product currently sells on Amazon and Etsy. I would like to move the brand into specific niche retailers/etailers. This requires a good sales person making the right connections. I’ve networked at events but haven’t found the right person yet. Any suggestions?
How many employees do you have?
Typically if you're small the founder/co-founder is the sales person. There's different opinions on how long this period lasts. The higher the number of your average sale the longer it will likely last. Companies like Palantir (co-founded by Peter Thiel of PayPal) had the CEO doing sales meetings as recently as a few years ago, and he may still do some, and they're a billion dollar company. But their average sale amount is typically over $1MM.
Another measurement I've heard is that if your current ARR can support 5 full-time employees then it's time to hire a sales person. However, if you have seed funding you may have the capital to begin hiring a salesperson right away.
Recruiting websites you can use that specialize in providing talent to start ups:
You have to start somewhere, let your candidates do a simple personality tests. It is also good if someone is well trusted with the products.
Why not sell on your own store? Would be happy to talk about what this looks like.
i'm certainly the right person for your goals. let talk more about it...
I can partner with you if you can discuss the products with me. You can send me a mail (email@example.com).
