Looking to start a business that will merge lifestyle, culture and practice of a healthy active lifestyle. Yet to establish a product/app/ service, but looking to find out what people will use/ create a need.

What is the best way to do this?

What is the cheapest way to do this?

How can you be sure to get a large sample scope?

Hang out where these people hang out... gyms, sporting events, etc and observe people. Where are there pain points? As you start to observe these, talk to people about them, see what workarounds they have, etc. You just have to spend a lot of time around your target market so you can see things from their eyes.

Happy to have a conversation.  You have not provided enough information about what you want to do for me to provide a valuable response.  That being said - the space you are talking about is incredibly crowded, and your competitors include Nike, Facebook, Apple, etc...I would be very careful about spending any money to have someone research "needs" until you are exhaustively familiar with what's out there personally.
