Models for revenue share with partners,

Meetul Shah

May 2nd, 2014

Hello -

I wanted to get feedback on different revenue share models with partners.

My main question is around how to track join pipeline and revenue when your product is sold through partners. We are currently on a honor system. They are not comfortable sharing their CRM system, as we are tiny part of their overall sales and customer base.

Any feedback would be appreciated

Thanks,
-Meetul.

You have to trust them, but include in a contract the right to audit their books!  You will probably never do this, because it's expensive, but it will help keep them honest!

Hi. FD had a bug that caused empty replies. It was auto-submitting it based on Out of Office setting. I’ve already notified them. Thanks, Arthur.

Hi Meetul, It sounds like they are selling the software on their own site? What if you were to provide your partners with a link to a centralized page that would auto populate a code for the particular affiliate who is closing the sale. You would then have a partial solution for tracking the sales.. (The code would enable the end user to download the software only after the purchase is completed) Another option is to generate an automated email so when the customer makes a purchase it will bcc you with the confirmation message, of course this is just another partial solution. Also, most CRM's and POS programs should have segment-able exporting options that would enable them to provide you with detailed reporting rather than giving you access to their entire database. I hope this somewhat helps.. Other than that, you will have to stick with trust. Good Luck.

Another approach would be to release  an important patch (update). This update should capture install base details, so that you cant reconcile the payments....
