Hi in a startup in the crowdfunding and very interested in people's thoughts/lessons learned on online acquisition of accredited investors? Either online or offline would be interested, but as you can imagine online is more interesting.
Growth-hacking isn’t about quick wins and shortcuts, although they exist. In this course, we’ll cover the six-step growth hacking framework, how to measure user retention for your business, how to increase engagement and retention, and a bunch of case studies.

I agree with Chaminda. There is no one size fits.
In general if you are in software, enterprise software especially you want to go the traditional route. If its consumer software angel.co starts getting interesting. Consumer oriented software and hardware with simple easily understood value propositions have found an eager audience in crowd funding with less emphasis on what is the eventual monetization model Probably a more useful tangible approach may be to attend a few startup events and network with investors. Lastly timing plays an important factor. If your product is in a "sector getting lot of attention, crowd funding elicits more responses since there is basic awareness floating around.

The feedback I have heard, and we have not done this yet is it is better to raise some money offline and to use these services for marketing.  The angel funding we have done has all been offline, but I have contemplated using that traction to then promote through the likes on Angel.co and or SeedInvest, that way you have some traction initially.  Are there still some legal questions around the use of these services or not?

Chaminda, I am very interested in feedback here as well.  I considered putting up a video on our site just for investors that had a form for only accredited investors to respond to.  That way my company could collect interest from accredited investors specifically.  I am going to develop out AngelMatch.us someday as well.

Thanks, great question!

Thanks Jonathon! Yeah I am thinking that there is probably not one silver bullet but maybe a combo of direct mail and email, but not sure how effective that is. We are experimenting with FB/Goog/Linked IN and twitter ads as well
