Looking for a recommendation on outsourcing Magento development. If you have ever worked with good Magento developers through sites such as ODesk and can recommend someone, this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Alexander:

I've worked with a number of folks on two Magento projects in the past

The best one I've directly worked with is a Russian team whose development skills are solid. I iterated through a handful of developers to find them. My bias is to work with developers directly and not through companies which assign project managers. This is an individual developer (his English is great) who now has a team working with him. And they have fairly reasonable rates. But note they don't do visual design work so you'll have to get that skill set elsewhere

If that's what you're looking and the other options above don't work for you, try Alexander Lisogurskiy: lisogurskiy@gmail.com

Parrotting John Arroyo here.   Summa Solutions http://summasolutions.net has been really great for me in the past.  Technical leadership and a firm grip on driving business domain conformance is still required, but that's pretty much any outsourcing shop.  I know some Austin resources (individual devs) as well.

I worked with Andy Etemadi at Eyemagine - http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=306609&locale=en_US&trk=tyah  They are based in So Cal.  They were really responsive.

Alexander; these guys (GoSolid.net) are based in Seattle, know their stuff and have done solid (pun intended) Magento work for companies large and small. Good group of guys too. if nothing else they would be a good sounding board for best practices.  Mac is the founder:  http://www.gosolid.net/

I've previously  worked with Optaros. They are a relatively large dev shop with office in Boston and Bucharest.

Hi Alexander,
I've hired a company called Peexl for front-end web development and they've always done a great job.  I've never used them for Magento development, but they push their Magento services heavily on their site:

Hey Alexander - one option is Hara Partners or CorraTech. They're nyc-based Magento-focused dev shops. Might be a little pricey for what you want, but think they know their stuff. Sent from my iPhone

I've worked with Summa Solutions on a few occasions, http://summasolutions.net they do good magento dev.  I'd be wary of random devs on sites like oDesk, magento can be a beast.  if you're doing straight eCommerce, you're ok.  If you're adding clever twists, the devs need to know how to bend magento in the right ways.  I've personally fiixed many a botched magento codebase (both on shore and off).  It can take as much as three times as long to undo some bad decisions as it took to put them in first place.  If you decide on on-shore hit us up, http://arroyolabs.com

Hi Alex, I did a lot of research into finding a firm a couple years ago, talking with groups all over the Midwest U.S. and landed on these guys - http://www.human-element.com/ - They are not too far from you, in Ann Arbor, MI (outside of Detroit).   They were actually the best priced group we talked to as well, but we hired them based on reputation, because they really know what they are doing, have good custom design, and know how to listen to a client.  An all around great value.
