POS (Micros integration)

We are a mobile payment start-up and one of our customers would like a custom implementation where they can integrate our product with their point of sale (Micros). Does anyone have any experience on this? I came across a start-up in this space (SubtleData), but it sounds like they have shut down the platform.

I've worked in POS for 5 years now. Expect Micros integration to take ~20k in fees and 1 year to finish the process. Micros will put you through what would appear to be a heavy bureaucratic process. My buddy was the Chief Software Architect for SubtleData. Not sure what happened there. Revel's CEO is a friend of mine and they are pretty friendly to integrations and have more modern technical competence than you'll find at Micros or other older POS company. Targeting customers with the Revel POS installed and building your product customer base from there is a viable strategy.

SubtleData is definitely shut down. I've heard some very interesting insider stories about how that happened if you're interested...

Dash (http://dashwith.me/) is taking over their servers and is considering continuing that business. I can connect you with them if you'd like.

I have direct experience integrating with 3 different global payment providers and have read the spec for Micros' POS API.  Let me know if you want to chat.  I can help.

If I understand your post you want to take your existing platform and then allow someone to be able to connect to it through a web service or have a set of API's they can use to build their own product but use your services underneath the covers so to speak. If that is what your looking for my company plays in that type of a space as we build custom applications where we leverage open source software or use and expand your existing solution.

That being said I am the first to admit my company and services are not always a good fit for everyone but if you are interested we can arrange a time to get on the phone and chat about this. And we can determine if I can help you or maybe I can point you to another vendor that might be better suited to your needs.

My wife works for a small consultancy that focuses mostly on POS integration and deployment. Let me know if you want me to make an introduction.
