Pitch Decks

Professional Graphical/Visual designer for pitch deck ?

Rajeev Bector Founder & CEO at OK Roger

I am looking to see if people can recommend a professional pitch deck designer. I have most of the content in place. I feel it needs a) Visual Curation and Enhancements and b) a bit better at story-telling from outside in perspective.  I could go hire a pure graphical designer (I am doing that for logos etc) but would probably be better off hiring someone whose expertise is in "taking a pitch deck" and making it visually and story-telling wise - compelling.  I could do most of it myself but would take a ton of time.

Recommendations ?

Hi Rajeev, it will be difficult to find one person to cover the two tasks. Probably the best will be to have smbd reviewing your pitch deck for the content and, once done, find the designer. Try on platforms like Upwork Todor Velev Sent from my mobile

Rejeev, good points - certainly you should get help from others.

With respect to a graphic designer, consider that your deck will evolve. After you visit your first investor or customer you'll realize that you need to make changes, after the second you'll make more. You'll hone your story because when you create your first deck, like everything else in your company, it's just a hypothesis that it clearly communicates why your entity is valuable. Only the people you are "selling" it to can validate that hypothesis.

Do you want to have to pay someone every time you make a change? Remember that you're tracking expenses and need to justify how you're spending money - even your own.

Better to either learn how to whittle your 80 hours to 20-25 (not sure why it should take that long if you know your story and have all the facts and numbers already) for the first go -around or find a core member of your team who can do it.

@steven - I dont think anyone should completely outsource this. But at the same time, I feel that everyone (especially an entrepreneur) needs to realize what their strengths are and what areas they need to take help from other people (employees, advisors, mentors, contractors etc).  Completely agree on not spending too much money on "presentation" but  time is money and if something takes me 80 hours to visually enhance and it takes a graphic designer 20 and he/she does a much better job because they do this all-the-time, I think there is value in using them.

Thanks all. I might take you up on your offers to help. @todor - yes - I am tending towards that. Finding a Graphic/Visual designer for aesthetics. I've got mentors/advisors for content feedback but speaking with professional storytellers as well. Too bad cant hire Elon Musk for that ;-)

Rajeev, someone can help you with your story, but it would be a huge mistake to think you can completely outsource it to them. They need to understand your business, what pain it solves, who has the pain, how it's differentiated, etc. They need to help you bridge the leap of faith that an investor must make - but in the end YOU must own the story because whether you tell it with your deck, your 1-pager, in an elevator in 30 seconds, or wherever, it must be the same story every time.

With respect to visual design, look at other decks on the web and do it yourself. You make something look too professional and it shows you burned money (that presumably you don't have to burn) on a friggin deck! Investors want you using money wisely.

Sounds like you need something other than a designer right now.

This guy is awesome at whipping your basic info into a great story.
