We're looking for project management software that allows us to create dependencies and is fairly customizable. We have tried monday.com and haven't been terribly impressed with it. Do you all have any suggestions?
The issue is how detailed a project do you want to have. Besides that, almost every one you look at has a learning curve. If you do not have a basic knowledge of scheduling almost all will have issues. Unless you need a schedule with a high level of complexity (say building a submarine) Microsoft project is a good all around program with a fairly simple learning curve.
I've used Microsoft (MS) Project, Zoho Projects, Clickup, and Teamwork for project management. Teamwork is my tool of choice, but each of these have their advantages.
MS Project: been around a long time, so there's a lot of knowledge out there. Standard project management capabilities. May not be as customizable as you need.
Zoho Projects: Similar to MS Project but a bit more up to date. Integrates very well with other Zoho apps if you use them. Fairly customizable, but again, not sure what you need to customize but Zoho is likely going to have more customization options for you than MS Project.
Clickup: Different look and feel than traditional project management tools (i.e., MS Project, Zoho Projects). Very customizable. If you want a tool that you need to customize, this is it. Also integrates with many other apps. I didn't stick with it because I didn't need the customization and it just seemed to take too long to set up a project given all the options you have.
Teamwork: A more modern take on project management, but still has traditional Gantt chart, task lists, etc. I looked at Monday also, but went with Teamwork instead. Works well if you have clients/contractors who only need partial permissions. More customizable than MS Project and Zoho Projects. Good amount of integrations too.
Notion is extremely customizable and anything missing can be added.
You can use Project Libre Community edition or Microsoft Project Pkan
I can suggest you some opensource project in which you can customize and contribute wisely.
We used Open Project. I thought it was pretty good for shareware.
I personally have been using Taskcade, its a fairly good project management software but allows you to chat and video call with your team unlike notion,
but I think if the project is a bit big and intricate then you should go with Notion
but the learning curve with Notion is quite slow because you can do almost anything with it
if not then you can choose Taskade
hope this helps :)
My favorite topic!
There are so many options. I really like Projeqtor, Open Project, Libre, Notion, and lots of others. A fantastic resource is Alternativeto.com. Put in the Software you are starting from and see comparables. You can filter an open source, price, rating, and more.
This is one area I nerd the eff out on, so feel free to message me. If I Iknow exactly what you are looking for I can tell you exactly what to get. If we keep it under 30 minutes, I am happy to help, Gratis.
Happy hunting !
