SEO campaign ideas for two types of users for my site? What about paid vs unpaid users?

I would like to start a SEO campaign and need to know a best way to attract two types of users:

1) Users that sign up as mentors and my company pays for their services
2) Mentees that are looking for a mentor to advance their career

What is the best SEO method to approach two types of users without complicating the message to the public via search engine? Has anyone been able to do this successfully with good results?

Consider the following:

a. Primary Website, ex. (just like this one), outlining your general offer with an entry way signup for mentors and an entry way sign up for mentees.

Work on your overall SEO for this specific site as general SEO for the niche that you are operating in.

b. - use this page as your fishing hook for mentors and optimize this page. You want it to remain on the primary domain, because you need to build domain authority, as well as page authority.

c. - same as above, but targeting your mentees

You'll also want to use an opt-in email pop-over or page takeover with your landing pages to harvest email addresses. You should have three lists in your MailChimp or equivalent account. Your primary, your secondary for mentors, and your secondary for mentees. When the target is on the specific landing page, you want to serve them the correct pop-over or page takeover. Or, you could have it in the sidebar, as well. That way, you're list building and able to market and offer coupons to mentees, as well as provide valuable thought leadership collateral to mentors who want to follow you.

You want an overall SEO and marketing campaign for your marketing site, but you can really be strategic with your landing pages, which drive interest to action. It's a combination of SEO, then offering mentors a carrot to opt-in to be a mentor and mentees a carrot to opt-in to be mentored.

That's why we have single page, scrollable landing pages now. So that you can target each landing page to a specific audience.

Of course, DO NOT put duplicate content from a. on b. or c., because that will get your site penalized.

Thanks Anthony,

Your advice is extremely useful. I am not currently utilizing WordPress, and have my website running on a php platform due to complex functionality.

I will take your advice and see where it takes me.

Thanks again - Ivan

No problem. Glad to help.

Understandable about having a custom php site. Remember that you can use WordPress for lead generation and marketing, then convert those leads into users who end up signing up on the custom platform. WordPress released a Rest API, which may be helpful to you. End of the day, you're going to need a blog for content marketing. I urge you not to use Tumblr or even You're going to want your blog on your web server either at or as a sub domain. If you split your traffic for your blog out to Tumblr or equivalent, that does nothing to add to page rank and domain authority on your primary site.

Hi Ivan, I would definitely go with two different landing pages, that

A. Speak to your different user groups

B. Are SEO optimized for the respective keyword somebody in the user group would search for.
