Hey guys,  I'm currently researching and interviewing potential startup lawyers and services for beginning startup phases - corporation, seed funding etc, ideally I would like them local so any tips to help my search would be great!

Have a look at Clerky https://www.clerky.com/ .. simple, standardized, and cheap, with (former?) Orrick attorneys to answer your questions. Popular with YC- (and Imagine K12-) incubated companies.

I recommend Leslie Keil at Hanson Bridgett. She's great to work with.

Though I don't have personal experience with them, I've heard good things about http://www.venturegainedlegal.com

Good luck!

Make sure they are Grunt Fund Friendly lawyers so they can help you implement a dynamic equity split. I list two such people on my web site: http://www.slicingpie.com/clint-costa/ and http://www.slicingpie.com/matthew-m-rossetti/ Getting started without a dynamic equity split is like swimming with a sack of rocks. -Mike

I did the same thing last December. Got intro to bunch of startup lawyers and law firms and picked one. I would say most important is that individual partner that you would be working with closest, name and size of the law firm is important and can be useful for intro to vc if/when you want that intro.

I ended up meeting a great partner at Pillsbury law firm and went with him. PM if you want an intro to that specific partner.

Hi

I agree with James,  springmeyer's firm is good. Their  website  is  springmeyerlaw.com and they have some good articles there.
