Surveying / Polling service for small businesses ?

We are needing to poll/survey about 100 random Veterans/US Military members and/or their spouses. What companies are best recommended to outsource the survey data collection to? We can create the survey ourselves, we need a service recommendation on who we should hire to find and collect the survey responses for. We don't mind giving a gift certificate or other prizes/money to achieve our 100 responses.

Who should we consider hiring to collect our data?

Google Consumer Surveys and SurveyMonkey should be suffice. Cheap, simple cloud services. I would recommend you build an excel sheet of the columns you need collected and build a model to analyze it using a visualization software such as TIBCO Spotfire or Tableau. As for reaching your audience -- I recommend advertising on Facebook and Twitter using targeted advertising and targeting groups such as "veterans" and hashtags that represent us military. We use Survey Monkey for all of our surveys. It works great.

Hi Jonathon,

I've been doing market research and surveys for Fortune 500's the past couple of years, I'm pretty familiar with the industry. Before making a recommendation, I'd like to know the following:

Objectives: What hypothesis are you looking to test? Are you looking for qualitative data (e.g. tell us how you feel about XYZ), or quantitative data (e.g. how many people liked this tag line, A/B test). Note that if you're looking for statistically significant quantitative data, you'd probably need a larger sample.

Targeting: How specific is this target market? Are you looking for feedback from veterans in general, or veterans who are currently looking for work between the age of 25-45 etc.

Analysis: Are you looking to do the data analysis yourself, or expert analysts to comb through the data and make recommendations?

Time line: how quickly you'd need the data?

Budget: what's your budget?

Give me a call or email, I'd be happy to walk you through the process, such as survey design (How you ask questions will determine the usefulness and validity of your data) etc :)

Hi Jon! Survey Monkey actually does a great job of sending to the specific population sample you are needing. There is a price per every person, if I recall correctly, for 100 responses you pay $100. Hope that helps! Isabel

As I am typing we are using Mechanical Turk (MTurk) on Amazon to do user survey as well. Try to write your specific requirements of the survey users and it should help you target them. Here's a good video to watch and learn how to use it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od2ZyIzwR74
