Thoughts on SeedInvest?

My startup's application was recently selected to be featured on SeedInvest, an equity crowdfunding platform for angel investors. They accept less than one percent of applications and don't charge any upfront fees, which hopefully makes it better than something like Fundable, but I'm not sure how successful admitted applicants are in raising funds. What have you guys heard? And what makes for a successful campaign?
More than 65% of new companies fail because they lack funding. In this course, you’ll learn common fundraising mistakes, how to nail an elevator pitch, how to craft a killer pitch deck, where to source investments from, and all about term sheets and convertible notes.

SeedInvest is a good platform, but you have to remember that it's the startup's, not the platform's, responsibility to be successful in raising funding. While they can be helpful, platforms don't typically showcase you until you earn it by creating some critical mass. Your marketing materials are crucial, as is your ability to bring investors (friends, family, angels, etc.) to your campaign in order to create momentum.

Hi Greg- It's a great option.. but you need to be ok with their terms up front. We discussed working with them and were very excited by the prospect, but weren't able to meet on terms. Helena

The fees required by SeedInvest are expensive when compared to other crowdfunding platforms. They require 7.5% of the funds raised upon completion of a campaign in addition to between $3,000 and $5,000 in escrow, due diligence, marketing and legal reimbursement. This is substantially more expensive than a flat 5% completion fee required by many other crowdfunding platforms.
